Hated Chores
I absolutely love this woman and so I'm going to respond and hope you all will do the same for me! I would love to know (for sure) that I'm not the only homemaker who hates certain household chores.
1) PUTTING AWAY CLEAN LAUNDRY - I've NEVER liked this task. When I was still living at home and my mother was sick for several years in a row, I didn't mind to help with doing household tasks, but poor Mom would get home from the hospital to see that Dad and I had lived out of the laundry baskets for the last week. Still to this day, I am notoriously bad about this. There have been times, I'll admit, that I waited to put away laundry until I REALLY needed a laundry basket to start the process of folding clean clothes all over again.
2) SWEEPING THE FLOOR - If we had a mixture of carpeted and non - carpeted rooms, this would be less despised. However, how entire house is hardwood laminate flooring. I can completely sweep a room, clean up the swept dust, trash, leaves, etc., put away my broom, walk back into the SAME room I JUST walked out of and see dust on the floor already. LOL The cycle never ends.
3) TAKING OUT THE TRASH - I pretty much just think it's nasty. Even though I KNOW what is in our trash because, after all, we are the ones MAKING the trash in the first place, it's just the idea of touching all the nastiness in one place that gets to me. That and having once found a dead dog in a dumpster. Gives me the willies to toss something in a dumpster anymore.
4) PUTTING AWAY CLEAN DISHES - I'll load the dishwasher, wash pans or pots that don't go in the dishwasher, but I do a very similar thing many times as I described with the laundry and just remove dishes as we need them. Lazy, I know.
5) MAKING OUR BED - We don't generally invite people to view our bedroom as it is, and since I occasionally take naps with Kamden during the day, it winds up that the bed needs to be made at LEAST twice. It just seems a little pointless to me to do it OVER AND OVER. I do have to admit though, seeing the room completely pulled together is a nice feeling!
I can TOTALLY relate to the "hated chores" you and your friend suffer from! Although I am only a first year in university and still living with my folks, I know exactly how dreadful and energy-consuming it is to take out the trash, fold clean laundry, pack away clean dishes and the absolute pits; making the bed! I have also written about the times and trials of being a student who still lives at home with their parents. I guess I am only 19 years-old and haven't yet experienced taking all the hated chores on on my own yet in my blog I try and advise first year students (or future first year students) that living at home REALLY isn't that bad! I am a first year at Rhodes University in Grahamstown. You should check out my group blog and the stories I have written about home life as a student blogspot
