There is no such thing as "coincidence"
So here we find ourselves in Franklin, TN.
And I know...Nashville area has an effect on people who are at all musically inclined.
But this is more than that.
I learned a long time ago that there's no such thing as coincidence. God either puts things together, or he doesn't. Plain as that.
Yesterday, Jeff had the opportunity to go on Total Axxess on Way FM in Franklin. While he was deployed, Wally started Operation H.E.R.O.S (you can read about it here) and Jeff was hoping to thank people on air in general rather than risking forgetting someone when writing thank you's. Wally got in touch with us and said to come by on Wednesday and to just hang out since TobyMac was going to be in at 5 for an interview. We got there at 430 and Jeff sat down for a chat with Wally. Later we found out he wasn't being recorded but he was LIVE on the air. (I found out when my cell phone blew up with texts from friends in the Nashville area.) Toby came in, we got to sit in on the interview and talk with him between segments. He made a comment to me, in jest I'm sure, when we were discussing his current tour, that since I'd said a year ago that my ultimate concert would be he and Skillet and that just so happens to be the tour he's on NOW, I should work for his booking and PR people. Kinda got me thinking... A little later in his interview time, he was talking about things people ask him while on the road, etc, regarding how to know when God is leading them to do something. He said, "I just tell them, 'You know? I've never had to kick any doors down. When it's right, the doors are just opened. It's up to us to be willing to step through them." Got me thinking even more. "How many times have I had an open door that I either slammed back shut or ran the other direction from?" Then today, I got a chance to see a friend I haven't seen since 2001. She and I always dreamed big dreams together. Me about singing professionally, she about working in some capacity with celebrities. Since 2001, she has received her Master's in Costume Design and moved to Nashville. She's not yet where she wants to be, but she's pursuing it and pursuing it HARD. I don't regret my marriage or my son, but a little part of me wondered what would happen if I started pursuing my dreams again with that kind of drive and passion. Later, we had the chance to sit down with two of the members of Bleach and their dad. Jeff had deployed with their brother in 2003 and he was KIA. Jeff recently got in touch with the mother of his fallen brother in arms and in turn his extended family. Since we were in the area, we met up with them at Panera Bread. Just getting the chance to connect with people in ministry in that capacity is mind blowing to me.
Each encounter we've had since getting here has made me start rethinking the dreams and goals I had at one time. Should I actively pursue believing that God's open door for me is these encounters? Should I wait and see if there is something else he wants to show me?
