Trip To Texas and Three More Christmases

We got into Texas on Sunday, December 21st and managed to get in early enough to surprise my parents at the morning service rather than waiting until mid-afternoon. When we got back to their house after lunch, my mom's sisters, their husbands and my grandmother came over to see us and see Kamden. One of my cousins and his wife and daughter made it over as well. She is just a little older than Kamden (by two months) and she and Kamden hit it off wonderfully. They were holding hands and giving "loves" in just a matter of minutes. It was so great to get the chance to introduce Kamden to the extended family!

On Monday evening, we went over to have dinner with my dad's side of the family. It was the first time in 14 years that all grandkids and extended family had been there at the same time and it was AMAZING.

Tuesday night my parents took us to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate our birthdays. Jeff had never been and we had a blast. We used up all the tokens to buy stuff for Kamden.
Wednesday, we had my dad's family over to Mom and Dad's house for Christmas dinner and gift opening. I hadn't seen my cousin Gina or her husband since they got married in 2005 so it was great to spend time with them. My cousin Eric had been dying to see and play with Kamden and they took to each other like old buddies. It was an awesome night and we really enjoyed the time together.
We had originally planned to do Christmas with my mom, dad and the three of us on Christmas day, but instead we opened our gifts Christmas Eve and saved all of Kamden's for Christmas day. Let me tell you, the kid cleaned up! He got the paper tearing down like an old pro and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

On Friday, we met up with my mom's side of the family and had Christmas. There had been two babies born since I was last in Texas and it was great to get to see all the little ones playing together and interacting. While not all the great grandkids were there (17 in all) I could tell my grandmother was completely enjoying herself getting to watch all the little guys and gals shredding open their packages, squealing and running over to show "Grandma 2" what they had gotten.

The rest of the time we were there was spent relaxing and just enjoying time with my parents. We did go out on a "date" to my cousins' home for a cookout on New Year's Eve which was fun, but just getting away and having a change from the "norm" was so great and SO needed.
