Becoming Suzie Homemaker

Getting the house in order to sell it has taught me a lot of things. First, I really am kind of a neat freak. Not to the point that I'm going to spaz out if there's a little dust or clutter here or there, but to the point that seeing the clutter accumulate does irritate the heck out of me. For another, I really like the idea of being a homemaker. Not just in name but in deed and lifestyle. Here are a few of the things I've been up to...

Baking Goodies

I decided to have a "frugal" but generous Christmas as far as gifts this year and am baking ALL our gifts for family. As of last night, I have 36 of the 54 loaves I'm baking finished as well as 70 of the 90 muffins.

Here are a couple of pictures of the first batch of baking. The deep freezer in the basement is getting full!

(To keep on with my "Homemaking skills" and to kind of explain the weird green goo in the ice cube trays pictured above....)

Making Baby Food

Okay, I can not even begin to tell you how much I enjoy doing this for Kamden. I went through a little bit of a down time when Kamden went from exclusively breastfeeding to eating solids along with breastfeeding. I know it's silly, but not being his SOLE source of nutrition kinda bummed me out, so I started trying to think of ways I could work around it. So...I decided to give Homemade Baby Food a try. It's a little time consuming but it's so worth it and it's a great money saver. Below are pictures of my endeavor with butternut squash. Two $.58 squash made enough baby food to fill a gallon sized freezer bag. That's insane! So far we've made (and he's loved!) bananas, pears, apples, butternut squash, peas, green beans, and sweet potatoes.

If you have any doubt whatsoever about Kam liking his veggies...well...here's proof!

I've been learning a lot as well in the way of making my own items to use at home rather than buy them. (i.e. baby wipes, sanitizing wipes, laundry detergent, fabric softener, Febreeze..) It's an amazing journey and I can't wait to learn more and do more for my family all the way around!

  1. That is so awesome that you're doing all that. I always wanted to try homemade baby food, and never did. And, I so wish I had the freezer space to bake that much stuff! I love being a Suzie Homemaker!
