Lost Keys, Nothing Too Small and M-Day

This day didn't start out as well as I'd hoped that it would.  We had been blessed with a substantial Pell Grant refund for Jeff earlier this week and what I'd TOLD myself I was going to do with that money didn't exactly happen.  (Don't get me wrong.  I didn't squander it senselessly.  It went for needs for the new apartment, etc.)  When I got up to check out our account balance this morning, I realized we had less in the account that I expected us to have.  (I know, I need to keep up with my check register like a Money Nazi and I'd know what we had exactly.  Dave Ramsey and I are working on that.)  We have enough to pay our first month's rent and take care of a couple of other obligations but the cushion money isn't there.  Anyway...  I had an appointment with my diabetic specialist today and prayed on my way to the office.  I finally understood today for the first time in my 23 years of Christian life what it meant to talk to God ...

Grab some popcorn

...cause there is a  LOT to say. First an update on the last big post I did here .  Jeff was able to get in touch with the Amarillo National Guard Unit and they are in the process of completing an interstate transfer.  What does this mean for us?  Well, for one he will not be required to leave and train for a different job.  This is a HUGE blessing because had he been made to go train for a different job, he would have had to take off a full semester of school and basically lose 6K of income from the GI Bill and in return only have one month's worth of full time military income instead.  Also (and this is HUGE), the Texas National Guard in this area is not slotted to deploy again until 2013.  Jeff's current contract ends in September 2012.  I don't think I need to explain that more.  :) Jeff and I started looking at houses this week and have some more to line up showings on.  The one we most are leaning toward now is a 3 bedroom, two bat...

*sigh*

I desperately need to update this blog.  It looks like I'll be home with a sick baby tomorrow after I get my braces off in the morning and until the house viewing tomorrow night.  I'll do at least a short blog to update on Kam's status in the morning if I can get away long enough.
